It might be enlightening for the headquarters to be in El Paso. What about a headquarters near the Canadian border? Did anyone consider that Abbott is buying Trump or visa versa? Maybe Lubbock or Amarillo could use the stimulus?
Honestly, beyond reporting this story (and casually offering an opinion that El Paso might be an appropriate location to relocate US CBP HQ to) I don't have a "dog in this hunt."
I can see why it's best to leave US CBP HQ in DC as well as the purported advantages of relocating it to Texas.= I hope those who ultimately make the decision do so with the nation's best interests in mind.
What are the plans to protect the people in the camps from natural disasters? Fire, floods, extreme heat? Having the headquarters in North Texas makes no sense and seems like a plan to get more dollars invested in a high priced metropolitan area.
Although the congressman who authored the bill is from North Texas, his proposal does not call for CBP headquarters to relocate to Dallas. One possible Texas option: Fort Bliss in El Paso - a secure installation on the border that already houses the DEA's El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC).
Why is no one thinking about the first part of my comment: welfare of immigrants imprisoned during natural disasters? Where are People going to be moved? And how are the “people” to be transported? Talk about a nursing home disaster!

I don’t want Texas to become a war zone like Gaza. I don’t want to be collateral damage.
