U.S. Border: Large Migrant Groups Cross - Terror Watchlist Suspects Among Them
More unaccompanied children are also crossing into Texas & Arizona
Border Patrol Agents along the U.S. Southern Border with Mexico continue to report encounters with large groups of migrants who crossed into the country illegally - including some on US Terror Watchlists.
In Arizona, Tucson Sector Border Patrol Agents encountered a group of 232 migrants from seven different countries near San Miguel. The group included single adults, families, and unaccompanied children.
In South Texas, Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers encountered a group of 154 migrants from nine different countries near Eagle Pass. Among the group were six "Special Interest Migrants "- who, according to the Department of Homeland Security could "potentially pose a national security risk to the United States or its interests."
The DPS says these special interest immigrants were from Afghanistan (and along with the other migrants who illegally crossed into Texas have been turned over to US Federal Authorities).
"A (Special Interest Alien) is a non-U.S. person who, based on an analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a national security risk to the United States or its interests. Often such individuals or groups (have) travel patterns known or evaluated to possibly have a nexus to terrorism." -U.S. Department of Homeland Security
The apprehension of "Special Interest" migrants on the US-Mexico Border is an ongoing issue - about which the Governor of Texas has repeatedly expressed concern:
"Last year, almost 100 known terrorists were apprehended crossing the border illegally. And who knows how many more entered the country undetected. President Biden has abandoned his duty to uphold the national security of the United States." -Texas Governor Greg Abbott (May 13, 2003)
The DPS says twenty unaccompanied children (15 boys and 5 girls) were also among the group of 150+ migrants who came to Texas from Afghanistan, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, & the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, the State of Texas continues to expand the "Border Wall" as part of its "Operation Lone Star" border security initiative to prevent more illegal crossings from Mexico.
