US Border: Migrants With Criminal Records Illegally Cross in Record Numbers
Numbers have exploded since 2020.
In fiscal year 2024, a record 17,048 migrants with prior criminal convictions were apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol along our Southern Border. By comparison, only 2,438 migrants with criminal records were arrested there four years earlier.
Who are these criminals crossing the border - and what were they convicted of? Here's a look at arrests reported by US & Texas authorities this month:
"(Border Patrol) agents stopped two convicted sex offenders from entering the U.S. in New Mexico and Arizona. They intercepted a Salvadoran national, a registered sex offender convicted of sexually assaulting a minor in South Carolina, and Cristobal Diego-Mateo, a Guatemalan citizen convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor under 5 years old in Illinois." -US Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens (December 12, 2024)
"This foreign national & convicted felonโs record from Colombia is just one long naughty list: Significant prison time for drug & theft crimes; Former communist guerrilla fighter w/ FARC; Hid criminal history from US officials." -El Centro California Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Gregory K. Bovino (December 12, 2024)
"Troopers arrested two illegal immigrants from Mexico who were trespassing on a private ranch in Kinney County (on December 9, 2024). Nery Flores Flores, of Mexico, a confirmed Mexican Mafia gang member, was charged with criminal trespass & evading arrest. Flores is a deported aggravated felon and wanted on an immigration violation. He served 16 years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon & deported to Mexico in 2020." -Texas DPS Lt. "Tucson (Border Patrol) Station agents arrested two smuggled migrants (on December 16, 2024) with prior felony convictions. Cipriano Garcia of Mexico, convicted of aggravated sexual battery (mentally deficient victim) in Kansas, and Castillo Recinos of Guatemala, convicted of lewd acts upon a child under 14 in California." - Tucson Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin
"Over the holiday weekend, USBP agents in El Paso & Laredo sectors took action to protect our communities, arresting 3 sexual predators. One of these offenders was recently deported on 11/11/24 for aggravated sexual assault of a child, while the other two have convictions for equally horrific crimes, including aggravated sexual assault of a child and forceable sexual abuse." -US Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens (December 5, 2024)
"Dangerous Individuals apprehended! (Border Patrol Agents) arrested an MS-13 gang member and 3 convicted criminals sneaking into the U.S.:

Casa Grande(Arizona Border Patrol) Agents arrested a group of smuggled migrants near Sells, including Eduardo Gonzalez. Records revealed the previously removed Mexican national and convicted felon has an active warrant out of North Carolina for Homicide. He was turned over to (the Pinal County Sheriffs Office) for extradition." - Tucson Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin (December 4, 2024)
